Talk: Spiritual Reflections from the Trail

WildcatsMahoosuc BlazesBased on our book, “The Walk – Reflections on Life and Faith from the Appalachian Trail,” this multi-media presentation is perfectly suited for churches, spiritual leadership conferences, and youth ministries. Drawing upon the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual challenges of our, 2,175-mile, six-month odyssey, the audience is presented with the parallels of this adventure and those of a “walk of faith.” It is an inspiring reflection of life on the trail and how the challenges, rewards and inter-personal experiences we encountered mirror the many experiences of a Christian life.

Using anecdotes from our hike, we reflect upon topics such as

  • Following the right path
  • Prayer
  • Perseverance
  • Family & community
  • Praise & worship
  • Simplicity vs. materialism
  • Pride & humility
  • Service.

“We recently hosted Randy Motz and Georgia Harris’s “Spiritual Reflections from the Appalachian Trail” seminar at our church to coincide with a sermon series we were giving about the “Lost Spiritual Disciplines” of our Christian faith…It was a timely message…powerful biblical insights gleaned from their 2,175-mile backpacking journey along the Appalachian Trail, from Georgia to Maine.
